Man With Down Syndrome Opens Dream Business on Mother's Day

Mother of special needs man says to always believe in your child

A Sanger man’s business, set to open Mother’s Day weekend, can cool you off and melt your heart at the same time.

A Sanger man’s business, set to open Mother’s Day weekend, can cool you off and melt your heart at the same time.

Blake Pyron, 20, of Sanger, is the officially the youngest business owner in his Denton County community. And his family believes he may be the only business owner in all of Texas who has Down syndrome.

“My pride level is beyond anything anyone could imagine,” said Mary Ann Pyron, Blake’s mother, on the eve of the grand opening of Blake’s Snow Shack.

Blake’s Snow Shack is a bright yellow trailer parked in a vacant lot at 400 Locust Street in downtown Sanger, and its official Grand Opening is Saturday at noon.

The business is incorporated and Blake is the legal owner and president.

“This is his dream,” Mary Ann told NBC DFW about her son.

The Mother’s Day weekend opening is no coincidence; the family has had this date circled for months.

“There were several people who said Blake would never even have a job,” Mary Ann said. “I have been one of the moms that have cried myself to sleep because someone said that my child couldn’t do something. And we want to reach out to all the moms – not just to special needs moms, but all moms – [and say], ‘Believe in your child.’ That’s our message that we want to send.”
