Lewisville police said the man — later identified as Jeffrey Staley — walked up to the Carter BloodCare in the 1500 block of West Main Street, pulled a gun out of a duffel bag and shot out the front door at 8:12 p.m. The location was closed and no one was inside at the time.

Officers responded and told Staley to exit the building, according to police. He refused, so police called a SWAT team in to assist.

SWAT officers went into the building at about midnight and found Staley dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.

Police said they also found a device using gas canisters inside. They called in the fire department to investigate.

Carter BloodCare officials said they did not receive any threats. Police said they don't think Staley worked there.
