Man Shot After 5-Hour Standoff With SWAT

Fort Worth SWAT shot a man following a five-hour standoff with the man barricaded in a home Monday morning.

Fort Worth SWAT shot a man following a five-hour standoff with the man barricaded in a home Monday morning.

Fort Worth police say the incident started at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. A man, whose identity has not been released, pulled out a gun during an argument with his wife, and threatened her and their two children, according to Fort Worth police.

One of the children called 911.

The woman and the children were safely outside of the home when police arrived.

The Fort Worth SWAT team tried to negotiate with the man. Police used tear gas to try and get the man out of the home at about 4:30 a.m.

When the man came out of the home, he was carrying multiple weapons, according to authorities. The man was told several times to drop the weapons. He raised a gun toward the police immediately before officers shot him, according to authorities.

He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. He is in serious condition and is expected to survive.
