Man Killed in 1-Alarm Dallas Motel Fire

One person was killed Saturday morning in a motel fire in East Dallas.

One person was killed Saturday morning in a motel fire in East Dallas.

Dallas Fire-Rescue said they were called at about 11 a.m. after fire and smoke were reported to be coming from the two-story Tampico Motel at 7201 East Grand Avenue.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke and fire coming from a room on the second floor. They were able to get inside and get the fire out relatively fast, but inside the found an unresponsive, unidentified adult man.

The man was pulled from the room, given CPR by paramedics and taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported.

Witnesses to the fire told NBC 5 they tried to beat on the room door, but there was no response.

The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.

The victim's official cause of death will be determined by the Dallas County medical examiner.
