Dallas police are looking for the person who fatally shot a man as he drove a Mercedes through Uptown Friday morning.

According to police, the fatal shot came from inside the car and led to the crash at a Shell station near Oak Lawn and Lemmon avenues at about 5:50 a.m.

After the shooting, the driver of the car, later identified as 33-year-old Joshua Tubbleville, drove through a small tree and narrowly avoided hitting a gas pump before the car finally came to a stop.

Witnesses to the crash reported seeing a man jump out of the passenger seat and run away. A detailed description of that man has not been provided.

When paramedics arrived, they discovered Tubbleville had been shot. He was taken to an area hospital in grave condition, but did not survive his injury.

Police have not uncoverd the relationship between Tubbleville and his attacker and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation. Video surveillance from area stores is being used to try to get a better idea of who ran from the vehicle.

Investigators said the fatal shooting appears to be an isolated incident.
