One of the two men arrested after a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed 13-year-old Ethan Vasquez is free after posting bond in Florida.
Police said the teen was killed when Dagoberto Castañon crashed a stolen van into Vasquez's mother's car while fleeing the Highland Park police on April 15.
Castañon and Rogelio Avila, who police said was in the van with Castañon at the time of the crash, were arrested in a trailer park April 18 in North Fort Meyers, Florida.
Castañon is being held on $1.5 million bond in connection with the capital murder charge related to Vasquez's death. Avila was held on $25,000 bond in connection with a probation violation.
Lee County Jail in Fort Meyers confirmed Monday that Texas approved two surety bonds for Avila and that they approved bail that had been posted in Texas on Avila's behalf.
On April 23, NBC 5 reported the pair had waived extradition and that transportation arrangements were being made with Lee County. Dallas police said they had planned to send officers to Fort Meyers, but it's not clear why that had not happened yet.
The Dallas Police Department released the following statement Monday afternoon regarding Avila's release:
"The Dallas Police Department is aware that a bond reduction hearing was held on Friday, May 2, 2014 and that Rogelio Avila subsequently bonded out of jail in Florida. We continue to work with the Dallas County District Attorney's office for a successful prosecution of Ethan Vasquez's murderers."

At this time, Avila's whereabouts is unknown. Castañon remains in the custody of the Lee County Jail.
