Starting next fall, most students in the Lewisville Independent School District will be getting up a little earlier.
The LISD board of trustees voted Monday to change the start times for high school and elementary schools as a way to save money.
The move will save the district $500,000 by allowing the district to streamline bus routes. The move is necessary since the district is facing an $18 million shortfall, the Lewisville Leader reports.
High schools will start at 8:15 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. while elementary schools will begin their day at 7:50 a.m. and end at 2:50 p.m.
Middle schools will remain on the same schedule, starting at 8:45 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m.
