Officials with the Joshua Independent School District said they placed all schools under a "soft precautionary lockdown" Thursday in response to the hunt for a man suspected in a fatal shooting.
Students will remain in class and carry on as usual inside the school, officials said, but no one is allowed outside. School officials said they are also taking extra precaution on who comes into school.
The lockdown will continue as long as authorities search for Kristun Madewell, according to district officials.
Joshua campuses affected by the lockdown include:
- Joshua High School
- New Horizon High School
- Joshua Ninth Grade Campus
- Loflin Middle School
- Caddo Grove Elementary School
- A.G. Elder Elementary School
- North Joshua Elementary School
- Plum Creek Elementary School
- H.D. Staples Elementary School
