JetBlue Airways suspended the captain whose erratic behavior caused a Las Vegas-bound flight to divert to Amarillo Tuesday.
Clayton Osbon, 49, has been a pilot at JetBlue since 2000, the airline's first year of flying. The company said a "medical situation" occurred onboard the flight out of New York, but wouldn't elaborate.
Passengers said the pilot was yelling and acting unruly in the cabin after he was locked out of the cockpit of the plane. A group of passengers tackled the captain and restrained him until the plane made an emergency landing.
JetBlue spokeswoman Allison Steinberg said Wednesday that Osbon was taken off active duty pending review of the incident.
On Wednesday, SAC Robert E. Casey with the Dallas Division of the FBI said Osbon was under a law enforcement hold at a local medical facility pending completion of his medical evaluation.
It is not yet clear if Osbon will face any charges.
"The FBI will present facts obtained through investigation to the United States Attorney’s Office for its consideration as to any federal criminal charges. Any additional information regarding federal criminal charges will be issued by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas," Casey said in a statement.

The FBI's investigation into the incident is ongoing, Casey said. The FAA, JetBlue, TSA, NTSB, Amarillo Police Department and Amarillo Airport Police Department are all taking part.
