Crews at Space Center Houston have begun reassembly of a modified jumbo jet that transported shuttles piggyback to Florida following flights.
Space Center Houston officials on Monday announced visitors can watch live streaming video of the old Boeing 747 NASA transporter being put back together.
The Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, or SCA, reached its new home on April 30 after a slow-moving highway trip -- in big pieces -- from Houston's Ellington Field. Now the jumbo jet is being restored to its previous flight look.
Exhibits manager Paul Spana says Space Center Houston officials are excited to share the historic process online.
The jet will be topped with a shuttle replica about 60 feet off the ground as a museum piece. The site is expected to open in 2015.
