Southbound lanes of Interstate 35 in Denton was closed Sunday morning after the body of a hit-and-run victim was found in the median, police say.
Police tweeted for people to avoid the area for a traffic incident. Public Information Officer Shane Kizer said a person called police at about 10:30 a.m. reporting a body next to the median of Interstate 35.
Police responded and closed down the southbound lanes at Oak Street.
At about 1 p.m. police tweeted they are investigating this as a hit and run that happened overnight. Investigators have identifued the man as 20-year-old Drake Austin Jager. He was found lying face down in the median between north and southbound traffic.
Investigators say the driver that hit Jager may be driving a Mazda with a missing driver's side mirror.
