Brenda Kappos drove from the Austin area to Dallas Monday night to help take care of her new granddaughter. Minutes later, she says two gunman forced her into her own pickup.

"It doesn't feel like it happened to me," Kappos said.

"They had 3 guns and they told me if I didn't get in the back (of her truck) they would shoot me. They'd kill me right there."

Kappos said the pair took her on a joyride for 45 minutes, going the wrong way down streets, running red lights, and jumping center medians. She said the suspects didn't look old enough to drive.

"The whole time I saw two kids," Kappos said tearfully.

"This doesn't have to be your life. These kids didn't have to do this."

Kappos says they drove her to Wells Fargo in Uptown, where the suspects tried and failed to get money out of her account.

All the while, Kappos could only think of one thing.

"I wasn't going to be there anymore to care for my granddaughter."

She doesn't know why, but the suspects ditched Kappos and her truck on a dark street. She jumped in the front seat and drove to safety, then called police.

Dallas Police said they are investigating.

Kappos says she was planning to move to Dallas, but now will stay on the outskirts.
