The Fort Worth Zoo welcomed a new calf to its giraffe herd June 8.
The male reticulated calf was about 6-feet tall and 185 pounds at birth. He has not yet been named.
The calf will likely grow to about 18-feet tall and 3,000 pounds. His neck will account for nearly 7 feet of his height.
The giraffe herd, including the calf, will join several other species in the zoo’s new African Savanna exhibit, scheduled to open next year.
Fort Worth Zoo's announcement comes on the heels of another baby giraffe born at the Dallas Zoo in late May.
