Garland Officer Involved in Multi-Vehicle Crash Wednesday Morning

A chain reaction crash in Garland Wednesday morning sent a police officer and another driver to the hospital.[[419260434,R]]

It happened at around 8 a.m. at the intersection of S. Garland Avenue and W. Kingsley Road.

Garland police spokesman Lt. Pedro Barineau said the officer was trying to pull someone over along Garland Avenue when another driver, who had a flashing yellow left turn signal, suddenly cut in front of him.

The two vehicles collided. The impact of the crash pushed the officer’s car head-on into a pickup truck that was stopped at the light. The pickup truck was then pushed back into vehicle behind it.

Texas Sky Ranger was over the scene of a multi-vehicle crash involving a Garland police cruiser Wednesday morning.

Both the officer and pickup driver were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. They have since been released.

“If you’re going to be turning at an intersection in front of other traffic, try to be patient,” said Barineau. “Don’t try to race out there. Always veer on the side of caution. Because if you try to rush, you may end up in an accident.”
