Blaze destroys building at Fort Worth apartment complex

Four people were taken to a hospital for injuries sustained at an apartment complex fire. Two people were injured from smoke inhalation. One firefighter was injured after falling off a truck and another was hit by falling debris.

At least four people, including two firefighters, were taken to the hospital after an apartment fire in Fort Worth on Thursday.

The fire broke out in a building at the La Plaza apartment complex on Shade Lane Drive at about 7:30 p.m.

Two people were injured from smoke inhalation. One firefighter was injured after falling off a truck and another was hit by falling debris.

None of the injuries were believed to be serious.

The Red Cross is assisting the 12 families displaced by the fire.

Firefighters remained at the complex late Thursday night to watch for hot spots.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire. Residents said it was the third building at the apartment complex to catch fire in the last year.
