The Fort Worth Zoo has a new full-time resident – a baby giraffe born on Monday.
Mom and calf are doing well, said zoo spokesperson Alexis Wilson.
The calf doesn't have a name yet because zookeepers don't know its gender yet, she said. They're giving the mother, Kala, a 16-year-old giraffe, some privacy with her new-born.
This is the sixth time Kala has given birth.
The Fort Worth Zoo now has a herd of eight giraffes.
The baby's father has been moved to another zoo.
Wilson said the zoo would announce in the coming days when the calf is available for public viewing.
