A Fort Worth homeowners' association is moving to ban certain breeds of dogs.
Pamela Worthey has owned her townhouse at Remington Point Villas off Old Decatur Road in Fort Worth for 10 years.
"I've been here 10 years and everything has been fine, until we got the dog," said Worthey.
Her new puppy is a pit bull, and within weeks of getting her, Worthey said, she received a letter in the mail from her homeowners' association.
"I couldn't wait for my husband to get home so he could see it. He said, 'Oh, no, this is crazy!' And I said, 'Yes!'" Worthey said.
The letter informs the neighborhood's more than 80 residents that the HOA board of directors passed a new rule that bans pit bulls, Dobermans, German shepherds and Rottweilers.

"From this point forward, the following will not be permitted within the Remington Point Villas HOA: Pit Bulls, German Shepherds, Rottweiler or Doberman. Any breed or mixed breeds containing any portion of Pit Bull, German Shepherds, Rottweiler or Doberman. Any breed or mixed breed of dog that is banned form the city of Fort Worth by the City of Fort Worth Municipal Code, now or as amended, are excluded from the definition of permitted dogs. Notwithstanding those named above."
Dog owners are told to register their pets with the HOA if they currently have a breed now listed as a "banned" breed.
NBC 5 left numerous messages for the property manager named in the letter, but the messages were not returned as of Wednesday night.
Representatives with the city of Fort Worth said there is no city ban on any specific breed of dog.
State law prohibits Texas cities and counties from banning any breed of dogs.
Fort Worth does have an ordinance for dealing with "aggressive dogs," or dogs that have a demonstrated patterns of aggression.
