A spokesperson for the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District said it appears the stage curtain in the auditorium caught fire near the lights at the ceiling.

Fire crews arrived to the school soon after 5 p.m. and by 5:30 p.m. they had fans set up near the rear of the building to help clear it of smoke.

The school district said all students and staff who were still at the school at the time were safely evacuated.

No injuries were reported.
