VA North Texas says a patient with symptoms similar to Ebola Virus Disease was seen at its emergency room Saturday afternoon.
The hospital activated its Serious Infectious Threat Response protocol and consulted with the Centers for Disease Control for a preliminary assessment, said Froy Garza, VA North Texas spokesperson.
Preliminary testing showed the patient was at an extremely low risk for Ebola, Garza said. The patient, who was not identified, was placed into isolation.
Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins told NBC DFW the patient does not have Ebola.
The hospital plans to transfer the patient to a designated Ebola assessment facility as a precaution.
