Irving police shot the driver of a stolen vehicle on Saturday after he rammed multiple police vehicles during a chase Saturday morning.

Irving police said they were called about an auto theft in progress at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday along Meridian Drive, where the victim of the theft was following their stolen car.

Police said officers located the video and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over. The chase ended up at a dead end, and that's when the desperate driver tried to escape by ramming multiple police vehicles.

Showin no intention of exiting the vehicle and continuing to ram police cars, Irving police said officers were then forced to "discharge their duty weapons."

The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the report.

The Irving Police Department and the Grand Prairie Police Department are working together to investigate this incident.

Police said the driver will be charged accordingly and transported to jail once they are released from the hospital.
