A driver led police on a chase for more than an hour Thursday afternoon before he surrendered in downtown Dallas.
Dallas police began pursuing a driver wanted on suspicion of aggravated assault at about 11:45 a.m. in Pleasant Grove. Officials said at least two people were also in the red Ford Expedition, including a woman in the front seat.
Tenoris Duncan, 25, is accused of shooting at his pregnant former girlfriend outside her family's apartment in Pleasant Grove on Wednesday. The woman was not injured.
The father of the woman in the vehicle with Duncan during Thursday's chase called 911 and told police she was being held hostage.
SWAT teams joined the chase when it got to Interstate 30 in east Dallas because of the 911 call.
When Duncan got out of the SUV and surrendered, police pulled the woman out of the vehicle. A witness said the woman was crying.
Police sources said Thursday night that they now believe Duncan and the female passenger knew each other and that she was not being held hostage.
The identity of the woman was not revealed as of Thursday night.
Duncan led police to U.S. 175/CF Hawn Freeway, where he drove toward Seagoville before turning around and heading back to Dallas. He then went east of downtown to Woodall Rodgers Freeway, where he then crossed the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge into west Dallas. He then drove to Hampton Road and went north back to Stemmons Freeway. He took Stemmons south to Interstate 30 east where he drove past LBJ and exited at Belt Line Road in Mesquite. From there, he took Belt Line Road south to Highway 80 and then 80 westbound back onto Interstate 30 all the way back to downtown Dallas.

"Any pursuit's going to be dangerous, and when you do get into the downtown area, it makes it even more dangerous," Senior Cpl. Kevin Janse said.
Duncan called 911 and reportedly told the dispatcher he wanted to stop but was scared. The dispatcher convinced him to surrender in downtown Dallas at Griffin Place and Pacific Avenue.
Police recovered two guns from the SUV -- an AK-47 and a handgun.
Duncan is being held in the Dallas County Jail without bond.
Although the chase lasted longer than an hour and hit speeds in excess of 80 mph, no crashes or injuries were reported in connection with the pursuit.
"This looked like a textbook pursuit where, you know, [there was] no property damage, no injuries and a violent felon [was] taken off the streets," Janse said.
