A Dallas man has been charged with conspiracy to commit sex trafficking after he allegedly sold a 19-year-old woman as a sex slave to a South Carolina man, federal authorities said in court documents.

According to a report by the Dallas Morning News, 35-year-old Alfonso Orozco Juarez was arrested Tuesday at his home in west Oak Cliff.

Juarez allegedly sold the woman for $5,000 to a man who had a dungeon at his home and planned to brand her.

Juarez’s attorney, Ezekiel Tyson, told the Dallas Morning News that he wanted to see “what actual evidence they have of criminal activity by my client,” asking that sex-slave relationships can be “very consensual” and aren’t necessarily criminal.

According to a criminal complaint, Juarez met the victim, a New Mexico resident, on a social-networking site during the summer of 2019 while she was in Dallas visiting her boyfriend, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The victim told investigators that Juarez asked if she wanted to make some money and visited her at her motel room, according to court documents. He gave her methamphetamine and became physically abusive, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The Dallas Morning News reported that Juarez paid for the woman to return to Dallas several more times and arranged for her to perform commercial sex acts in exchange for money and drugs, court records alleged.

According to court documents, Juarez threatened the woman and her family, and he became more abusive, at one point holding an unloaded gun to her head and pulling the trigger, the Dallas Morning News reported.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Juarez advertised the woman as a sex slave for sale on a fetish website in September of 2019, and a user going by the name “The Darkest Lord” replied and offered $5,000, according to court records.

Text messages obtained by authorities indicate that Juarez arranged the transaction with the man, later identified as 66-year-old Robert Gene Hubert of Roebuck, South Carolina, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The Dallas Morning News reported that Hubert offered a $50 deposit, saying that he would "take the slave," according to court documents.

The complaint states that Juarez took the woman to a gas station and told her she would be going to South Carolina with a man and needed to “obey him,” the Dallas Morning News reported.

According to a report by the Dallas Morning News, the woman said she saw Hubert, whom she described as having tattoos and an eye patch, give Juarez $5,000 in cash, according to court documents.

The Dallas Morning News reported that Hubert allegedly put a metal collar around the woman's neck and told her he wanted to brand her buttocks with a logo, according to the complaint.

The victim told authorities that there was another woman with Hubert, and she said she saw cuts, bruises, and burn marks on the woman’s body, as well as a brand on her hip.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the victim told authorities that Hubert’s home had a dungeon, and she and the other woman were required to be naked at all times.

The victim said she begged Hubert to let her leave, but he demanded to be reimbursed, according to court records.

The woman was eventually able to call her parents, and her father convinced Hubert to let her take a bus back to Dallas, the Dallas Morning News reported.

After the victim returned to New Mexico, federal authorities received a tip from a psychiatric hospital in Albuquerque where the woman was a patient, prompting them to begin investigating in June, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Hubert was arrested in South Carolina last week and was charged with conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.

Both men are in custody and face up to life in prison if convicted, the Dallas Morning News reported.
