18-Wheeler Wreck Throws Chickens Across Road
Chickens were left scrambled across the road after an 18-wheeler truck crashed on Interstate 30 in Royse City in Rockwall County. Many of the chickens died after the birds were spilled all over the roadway. There was no word on what caused the wreck. Click here to watch the video (**Caution Chicken Carnage**)
Child Helps Police Find Mother's Killer
A 7-year-old girl helped police capture the man who allegedly stabbed her and killed her mother Sunday in Oak Cliff. Dallas police arrested Edgar Murga, 25, Monday morning on charges including murder and injury to a child. He is the brother-in-law of the victim, 32-year-old, Alma Arenas-Perez, the Dallas Morning News reported. Arenas-Perez's husband found her dead inside their home on East Elmore Avenue. Their daughter, who was stabbed in the neck, was hospitalized in stable condition.
Reward Offered To Find Missing Mother
Crimestoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to mother of two who has been missing since May 30. Latrese Daniels, 20, was last seen at her best friend's apartment on West Wheatland Road in Dallas. Daniels had been dropped off at the apartment following a date, but when her friend woke up that morning, Daniels was gone. The front door was wide open along and Daniels' purse and shoes were still in the living room. Investigators believe Daniels may be in danger. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Dallas police.
Teen Drives Mom's Escalade into Lake
A 14-year-old boy's joyride ended with his mother's Cadillac Escalade in a lake early Monday morning, Irving police said. Police were called just after 2 a.m. after someone spotted the SUV floating in a lake in the 10000 block of North MacArthur boulevard in Valley Ranch. The officers began searching the area after they jumped into the lake and found the vehicle was empty. Coppell police later reported seeing a wet boy walking down the street. He was not injured.
Deputies Capture Escaped Prisoner
Sheriff's deputies said they had an escaped prisoner back in custody Monday afternoon. Deputies said Jamaious Whitaker, 17, Whitaker, a jail trusty, had a short time left on his sentence when he slipped away while working outside the walls of the Tarrant County Jail's Green Bay facility Monday morning. Investigators said Whitaker got into a scuffle with a private security charge during his getaway. A female motorist said he forced her to drive him to an apartment complex off East Lancaster. Whitaker was being held on a misdemeanor theft charge but now faces a felony charge of escape with injury.
Keller Man Who Baby-Sat Convicted of Child Porn
A 46-year-old Keller man who secretly took photos of a boy he baby-sat has been convicted of possession and production of child pornography. Agents in March searched Dickson's home on a complaint of child porn purchased via the Internet. Digital photos on Dickson's computer disk were identified as a now-2-year-old boy that he baby-sat. Prosecutors said he sought baby-sitting jobs in the Metroplex and worked at child-friendly sites including the Dallas Zoo and Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine. Dickson faces 25 to 70 years in prison. Sentencing is Oct. 2.
