Dallas Woman Crushed Under Her Own Car
An investigation is under way after a North Dallas woman was found crushed to death by her car in her driveway Thursday morning, KRLD reported. Susan Davenport suffocated when she somehow became trapped under the car, which her husband said didn't have any mechanical problems, Dallas police said.
Police Shoot Man Accused of Stabbing UPS Driver
Fort Worth police used a Taser device and shot a man who allegedly repeatedly stabbed a female UPS driver at an apartment complex. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports the man and the woman were in critical condition Monday at two hospitals. Fort Worth police spokesman Sgt. Registered Sex Offender Behind Alleged Test Prep Scam Arrested
A Cedar Hill man the Texas attorney general's office has filed suit against for an alleged test prep scam has been arrested for allegedly misrepresenting his employment, the Dallas Morning News reported. John Joseph Stuart and his wife are accused of running an SAT/ACT prep business that scammed college entrance applicants and their families. Stuart, who was convicted six years ago of sexually exploiting a child in Arizona, was arrested Thursday and faces a felony registration-violation charge that could send him back to prison for up to 10 years, the paper reported.
Girl, 12, Held For Aggravated Sex Assault
A 12-year-old was in custody as Dallas police investigate allegations she pressured four younger children to perform sex acts on each other. A judge on Monday ordered the girl to remain in juvenile custody on aggravated sexual assault charges. The Dallas Morning News reports the family suspects the girl may have been molested years ago by a man her mother knows. Click here to read this story on NBCDFW.com.
DART Bus Catches Fire at Transit Center
A DART bus caught fire as it pulled up at about 6 a.m. to pick up passengers at the Addison Transit Center, officials said. After the driver saw the smoke, he drove the bus to an isolated part of the parking lot where it became engulfed in flames, the Dallas Morning News reported. Firefighters were able to safely extinguish the blaze and there were no injuries reported.
Late-Night Thieves Target Offices
Police are searching for as many as six thieves who have broken into North Texas office buildings late at night and stolen computers and other equipment. In Irving, they struck the same building twice. "They've become our guests, and I will entertain them,” said Prince Humayun, owner of Prince Computing Corporation.
