WYLIE STUDENT ACCUSED OF TAKING GUN ON SCHOOL BUS
Wylie police arrested a 16-year-old student on possessing a weapon on a school bus. Police received a call Wednesday morning that the student may have a gun. A school resource officer met the student as he exited the bus and secured a loaded .25 caliber handgun. Witnesses said the student was trying to sell the gun, police said. The student was charged with possession of a weapon in prohibited places, a third-degree felony.
MAN ARRESTED IN SHOOTING DEATH OF UNT ATHLETE
An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with the shooting death of a University of North Texas student athlete. Lewisville police arrested Ryan Harrison, 18, on Tuesday night. Germaine Dawson's girlfriend said he was planning to sell marijuana to someone in Dallas on Thursday night, according to court records. He was reported missing on Thursday, and his body was later found inside a car. Dawson died of gunshot wounds to the head. Read this story on NBCDFW.com.
SUSPECT ARRESTED IN RAPE, BURNING OF ELDERLY WOMAN
Police arrested Tuesday night a door-to-door magazine salesman accused of raping an elderly Grand Prairie woman and then setting her on fire. A warrant for aggravated sexual assault was issued for Daniel Deshawn Neal, 23, of Chicago, based on information from another salesperson, Detective John Brimmer said. Conviction for aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree felony, carries a prison term of 5 to 99 years and, or a $10,000 fine. Read this story on NBCDFW.com.
ELLIS COUNTY MOM CONVICTED IN DRUG TRAFFICKING CONSPIRACY
A federal jury in Dallas has convicted Teresa Castillo, 49, of Ennis, Texas, of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine. Castillo and seven other members of a cocaine trafficking conspiracy were arrested in May 2008 on an indictment charging that from Jan. 1, 2006, through March 23, 2007, they conspired to possess with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine. POLICE ARREST MAN ACCUSED OF RUNNING OVER WIFE'S FRIEND
The man accused of abducting his wife after running over a friend who was trying to help her has been arrested. Dallas police arrested Bobby Scott late Tuesday at a relative's house. Police said his wife Misty Scott is OK, but may have gone with her husband willingly. The woman who was run over remains in a coma.
MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD RECENTLY LEFT PRISON
A man accused of killing a school crossing guard Tuesday in a drunken driving wreck has a prior criminal record. Peter Nelson, who was released from state custody last Friday after a parole violation, has prior arrests for drugs and burglary. Dallas police said the 52-year-old man was speeding on South Denley Drive Tuesday morning when he hit Franklin Lester. Nelson remained in the hospital Wednesday morning. Once he's released, he will be jailed on a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

POLICE: NEIGHBOR STRANGLED 13-YEAR-OLD
Police arrested 24-year-old neighbor in connection with the death of a 13-year-old Arlington girl. Rodrigo Sanchez, a neighbor described as a stranger to the family, is being held on a $1 million bond. The mother of 13-year-old Elizabeth Villa found her daughter in bed Monday morning and not breathing. Police said Sanchez apparently snuck into the girl's apartment, sexually assaulted her and strangled her. Read this story on NBCDFW.com.
