The Dallas Cowboys open training camp in San Antonio this week and head coach Wade Phillips has vowed to crack a sharper whip.
Previous training camps were dubbed "Camp Cupcake" because of how easy Phillips made things for veterans but the third year coach has vowed things will be different.
The first practice is Wednesday at the Alamodome.
Phillips is going into his third season running the Cowboys and his eighth full season as an NFL head coach -- yet he's still seeking his first career playoff victory.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has invested $1.1 billion in a new stadium in Arlington which will debut it's first NFL game Aug. 21 when the Tennessee Titans arrive for the third preseason game of the year. The Cowboys fourth preseason game will be Aug. 29 against the San Fransisco 49ers.
The team's first pre-season game is Aug. 13 at Oakland.
Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, who will earn roughly $3 million this year and is the highest-paid assistant in NFL history, is widely viewed as the head coach in waiting.
