An assistant principal of a Corsicana intermediate school was rushed to a hospital by air ambulance Thursday after being seriously injured in a "disruption" in a classroom, the district says.
In a Facebook post on Thursday afternoon, the Corsicana ISD shared an update from Collins Intermediate Principal Tiffany Boortz, saying an employee had been hurt and was hospitalized following a "disruption in a classroom" that "resulted in an injury to an intermediate school employee."
That person, who was identified Friday morning as assistant principal Candra Rogers, was taken by air ambulance to an area hospital in an unknown condition. The district said Friday that her condition was improving but shared no specific details about the nature of her injury.
The district's statement confirmed Thursday that though the "disruption" occurred in a classroom, "no other students or staff were ever in danger." The district did not immediately reveal any other details and said while first responders treated the assistant principal, other students and staff were kept in their classrooms.

On Friday, the district released an updated statement saying fewer than 10 students were present in the classroom when the disruption occurred, a student was detained, and charges are pending. Further details about the "disruption," the student's age, and the charge faced have not been disclosed.
"The safety of our students and staff remains a top priority, and our thoughts are focused on our colleague during the recovery process," the district said Thursday. "Additional administrators and counselors will be on campus for the remainder of this week to help ensure a safe environment for all."
Collins Intermediate serves 5th and 6th graders between elementary and middle school. Rogers's tenure with the district began last year when she began working at the campus in the spring semester. Her husband, Eugene Rogers, is in his first year as head football coach at Corsicana High School.
