After a beloved Cleburne resident's custom bike was stolen, the community rallied to help him get a new one.
For most people a bike means exercise or transportation. For Alex Wilson, his bike named "Sarah" was freedom.
"That bike meant so much to me," Wilson said. "That gave me so much independence."
Wilson was born with cerebral palsy. He's known in Cleburne for his wide grin, bubbly disposition and the special customized bike that get him around town. Last month, his cherished bike was stolen.
But on Tuesday at the Cleburne Railroaders baseball game, the city responded.
"Yeah, I'm gonna get a new bike," Wilson said, smiling ear to ear. "Because the whole city came together and helped me again."
Donations made before and during the game will help Wilson buy a new custom bike to replace the one that was stolen. He wants the extra money to go to his favorite charities for children and animals.
