Police officers across the country celebrated some of their most faithful partners Sunday -- K9’s.
Sunday March 13 is National K-9 Veteran’s Day and the Cedar Hill Pet Cemetery hosted their first memorial service in honor of K-9 officer Gage.
Gage served the Mansfield Police Department before he passed away due to illness.
The Cedar Hill Pet Memorial Project also set up a fund to help police dogs in the future, called the Shadow Fund. The fund will help raise money for when the dogs might need extra medical care.
Gage’s memorial will be the first service in the new “Hero’s Section” of the cemetery. It is next to a War Dog Monument in the Cedar Hill Pet Cemetery.
The Hero’s Section is meant to memorialize all K-9’s that work diligently to serve us through the military of police force.
