A dangerous trailer fire shut down Interstate 20 in Kaufman County for more than an hour overnight Wednesday.
Investigators said an 18-wheeler was heading from Dallas-Fort Worth to Louisiana when the brakes sparked on I-20 near Farm-to-Market Road 1641 at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.
The flames spread to the tires and into the back trailer.
Fire crews say the driver stopped and bravely unhooked the cab and front trailer, separating it from the blaze, or the raging fire could have been even bigger.
Signs on the truck indicate it was packed with corrosive and dangerous chemicals both in drums and boxes.
After the fire was put out, The Texas Department of Transportation made sure the chemicals were safely unloaded from the truck.
No one was injured in the fire.
