The 1988 Carter High School football team was arguably the most talented and most controversial high school football team in Texas history.
Now, the new film Carter High, which premieres Tuesday in Dallas, chronicles that 1988 team.
It was filmed in Dallas and many former Carter players helped push the film across the goal line.
"It is an amazing story," said former NFL and Carter player Jesse Armstead. "We had so many guys on that team that went on to college."
However, things took a tragic turn when several players were involved in a string of crimes after the 1988 season.
"It's a very thin line between making the right decision and wrong decision," Armstead said.
Several players went to prison, including Derrick Evans.

"You have to live with it," Evans said. "It's a movie about choices."
Former Dallas Cowboy Greg Ellis is the executive producer on the film, which stars Vivica A. Fox and Charles S. Dutton.
It opens in theaters across North Texas on Friday.
