Calif., Fort Worth Men Sentenced in Child Sex Case

Two men have been sentenced to life in prison for their roles in a self-proclaimed religious movement that encouraged sex with children.

Allen Harrod, 61, of Sacramento, and Michael Labrecque, 50, formerly of Fort Worth, were sentenced Monday by a federal judge in Sacramento. A jury convicted them in February of multiple charges of interstate transportation of minors for sexual activity.

Witnesses testified that Harrod created the religion, which promoted ritualistic sex with children to help them mature.

The families exchanged children between 1991 and 2002. Harrod's common-law wife, Irene Hunt, pleaded guilty to taking her 7-year-old son to Texas to have sex with Labrecque's wife, Juliette.

Jurors deadlocked on charges against Juliette Labrecque, and she was not convicted.
