Arrests made after body wrapped in sheets found inside condo, Garland police say

Police arrested two people in connection to the murder

Garland police arrested two people in connection to the death of a man whose body was found wrapped in a sheet inside a condominium on Monday morning.

Police responded to a report of a dead body inside the residence at the 4500 block of Chaha Road at approximately 1 a.m. on Monday, according to a report.

A Garland police officer told NBC 5 that there was a body wrapped in bedding sheets inside the condo. The body was taken to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office for examination.

The deceased was identified as 53-year-old Johnny Mac Ross Jr. Preliminary investigation indicates the victim sustained fatal injuries from a knife wound, according to an update from police.

Police said they observed evidence indicating foul play at the residence. Investigators also discovered one of the victim's vehicles had been stolen.

On Tuesday, Garland police located the stolen vehicle traveling on Miller Road near LBJ Freeway. When police attempted to pull over the vehicle, Haley Barber and Leo Moore, both 20 years old, refused to stop and led them in a brief chase. Police said Barber and Moore tried to escape on foot and were apprehended.

Police said detectives gathered evidence identifying Barber and Moore as the individuals responsible for Ross's death, but they did not share any details about what they found.

Barber and Moore are currently in custody at the Garland Detention Center on charges of capital murder, with no bond set. It's unclear if they have obtained attorneys to speak on their behalf.
