Actor Eddie Hassell was shot to death in North Texas early Sunday morning, police said.
The shooting happened at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of West Bardin Road in Grand Prairie.
Grand Prairie police said in a statement that officers found Hassell suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A representative for Hassell told Variety that the shooting appeared to be connected to a carjacking. Grand Prairie police said the motive remained under investigation, but that a car had been taken from the scene of the shooting.
No arrests have been made, but police said the car has since been recovered.
Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual(s) involved.

Hassell, who was born in Corsicana and lived in Waco, appeared in many movie and television roles, including NBC's science-fiction series "Surface," "Devious Maids," the Academy Award-nominated film "The Kids Are All Right," and other projects, according to E! News.
