Mesquite police are warning of a suspicious person who approached a child near an elementary school Tuesday morning.
Police said the student was walking to Tosch Elementary School along Motley Drive when the driver of an SUV offered the child a ride.
The student continued walking, and the person in the SUV drove away, police said.
The vehicle was red and looked like a Suzuki, police said. The back of the driver's side was painted white, as if it had been repaired.
Police ask anyone who sees a vehicle matching the description to call 911 immediately. If you notice suspicious behavior near a school, call 911 or notify school officials.
