SWAT Standoff Ends in Arrest, Discovery of Pipe-Bomb Making Materials: Officials

The standoff and arrest took place at a mobile home park in the 700 block of Leisure Drive

A Fort Worth man was taken into custody after a standoff with a SWAT team Friday morning, and officers found several firearms and parts of pipe bombs inside his home, police said.

Police were called to a mobile home park in the 700 block of Leisure Drive after reports of a man firing a gun, said Fort Worth Police Officer Buddy Calzada.

The man refused to come out of his house so a SWAT team fired gas inside. He then came outside with a gun in his hand but complied with orders to drop it, Calzada said.

When officers went in to check the house, they found several guns and pipe bomb-making material. The fire department arson squad then responded to the scene, Calzada said.

Michael Wittke, 61, was taken arrested and charged with deadly conduct and discharge of a firearm. It's not clear if he has an attorney to speak on his behalf.
