Tarrant County Sheriff's Department officials said a man wanted for stalking and violating a protective order ran from deputies into a home in the 100 block of Cedar Lane in Haslet and refused to leave.
The homeowner was able to get out of the house and authorities said they donβt think anyone else is inside. Authorities did not say whether the man was armed, but they did say there were guns in the house.
While the standoff was underway, Haslet Elementary School, which is less than two miles from the home, was placed on voluntary lockdown by school officials as a precaution.
Tactical teams and negotiators were called to the scene to facilitate the man's surrender.
At about 2:15 p.m., the man surrendered and the incident ended peacefully, according to the Haslet Fire-Rescue Department.
Northwest ISD said the school remains on precautionary lockdown but that they will release the students as normal at 3:05 p.m., though school buses may be slightly delayed.
