Grand Prairie Police ‘Working Tirelessly' to Find Missing Couple

Weltzin Garcia and Alfonso Hernandez were reported missing Tuesday

Grand Prairie police are asking for the public's help finding a missing couple.

Weltzin Garcia, 26, and Alfonso Hernandez, 28, were reported missing Tuesday. Hernandez's car was found near White Rock Lake, but there was no indication where the couple may have gone.

Garcia's family told NBC 5 they worried she might be in danger from Hernandez.

"She's in danger, I'm sure she is," Atziry Garcia, Weltzin's twin sister, said.

Garcia said Hernandez had been seeking treatment for anger management. According to Grand Prairie police, Hernandez has an outstanding warrant after he allegedly assaulted Garcia in January and fled the scene.

"I know that an assault did occur, she did prosecute and we do have a warrant for his arrest," Mark Beseda with the Grand Prairie Police Department said.

Grand Prairie police said they have worked tirelessly with Dallas police officers in searching for the couple, but do not currently suspect foul play.

"We believe there is more to the story, so we are treating this as a criminal matter, which means we've deployed an extensive amount of resources to try and locate them," Beseda said.

The couple has two children who are safe with family members.

Anyone with information is asked to call Grand Prairie Police Crime Stoppers at 972-988-8477 (TIPS). Tips may also be submitted online at GPCrimeStoppers.org.
