Teachers and students were evacuated from a Cockrell Hill charter school due to a nearby gas leak Thursday, fire officials say.
The Cockrell Hill Fire Department confirmed to NBC 5 that the Golden Rule charter school was evacuated at about 11 a.m. after gas was detected coming from a nearby manhole.
The school is located on the 600 block of Sunnyside Avenue in Dallas. According to their website, the Cockrell Hill campus has six teachers and 145 students grades Pre-K to 2nd.
Atmos Energy dispatched crews to the scene to address the gas leak.
At 12:30 p.m., Cockrell Hill officials said the scene was cleared and school was back in session.
No injuries were reported.
