A Texas dentist appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to a state board has resigned from the panel after being arrested on charges he secretly recorded an employee as she changed clothes.
Dr. William Birdwell was a member of the Texas Board of Dental Examiners until his resignation Friday. He was appointed to the panel by Perry in 2009.
Bryan police spokeswoman Kelley McKethan says the 67-year-old Birdwell is charged with improper photography.
Birdwell was arrested Wednesday after the employee discovered a recorder, concealed by a shirt, in a bathroom at Birdwell's Bryan dental practice. He was booked into the Brazos County jail and later released on a $10,000 bond.
The arrest report indicates Birdwell initially denied recording the woman but later admitted to the felony.
