Big Pocket Donors Who Gave to Abbott's Inauguration Named

More than 200 Private contributors donated a combined $4.7 million

Walmart and the owner of the San Antonio Spurs are among more than 200 private contributors who donated a combined $4.7 million to the lavish inauguration of Republican Gov. Greg Abbott.

The list of contributors disclosed late Friday afternoon includes many of the same wealthy donors who built Abbott's record-setting campaign bankroll during his run for governor. AT&T and grocery chain H-E-B were among the other big givers.

The money helped pay for performances by country stars Lady Antebellum and Pat Green after Abbott was sworn in as the 48th Texas governor in January. It made for what was likely the most expensive inauguration of 2015 in the nation.

Walmart was the biggest contributor at $125,000. Alice Walton, the heiress of the discount retailer, was a major Abbott campaign donor.
