An approximately nine-foot alligator was found near Lake Lewisville Monday evening.
Lake Manager, Rob Jordan, found the gator on the downstream side of a nearby dam.
The area is usually protected and blocked off from the public.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers spokesperson Clay Church says alligators are known to be in this area because it is not frequented by people.
The alligator was not removed and has not been checked on since Monday evening, but officials know it is not in the same location.
