Rowlett's city manager Brian Funderburk said 75 people stayed in a temporary shelter for tornado victims set up at Steadham Elementary School overnight.
In Rowlett, 854 homes were impacted and 148 were destroyed by Saturday's EF-3 tornado.
So far, 23 injuries have been reported in Rowlett as a result of the tornado.
A 24-hour curfew remains in effect for parts of Rowlett hit by the tornado. Only emergency personnel and residents are being allowed in.
Funderburk said several neighboring cities are helping clear streets of debris. In an update released Monday, he said he thinks streets will be clear by the end of the week.
Several disaster relief groups, including FEMA, are expected to arrive in the city Tuesday.
Editor's Note: Based on a report from the National Weather Service that said the tornado that hit Sunnyvale, Garland and Rowlett was an EF-4, we reported the tornado that hit Rowlett had been upgraded from an EF-3 to an EF-4. Further information provided by the NWS says the tornado produced a continuous path of damage but that the damage in Rowlett was EF-3 damage. We regret the error.
