Collin County will soon get yet another massive high school football stadium.
Tuesday, Prosper ISD revealed renderings for a new $48 million multi-use facility.
The new stadium and natatorium will be built just west of Prosper High School near Frontier Park.
It joins two other huge facilities in the area: the $60 million Allen Eagle Stadium and the $70 million stadium being built in McKinney.
Prosper’s new stadium has been about a decade in the making.
The money to pay for the stadium comes from a $710 million dollar bond that passed nearly 10 years ago.
The project had to be put on hold seven years ago because "growth dictated the need to push out new schools,” Superintendent Drew Watkins said in an email.

Because the district isn't opening any new schools this year “due to the uncertainty of public school funding,” he said, “we had a window to insert these facilities that are needed and long overdue.”
In growing town, parents and students say they’ve outgrown the current facility.
“I feel bad for all the new people coming in who have younger kids because they really can't come to the games because there's nowhere to sit,” said parent Sarah Haskins.
The new stadium can seat 12,000 people, about 10,000 more than the current stadium. Jake Majors is a football player at Prosper High School who aspires to play in college.
“Being on a bigger stage may help and just a lot more coaches being able to come watch,” he said.
The district plans to break ground in early 2018.
It’s scheduled for completion in August 2019, which will coincide with Prosper’s first year as a 6A high school.
