Three Inmates Mistakenly Freed from Jail: Dallas Police

The Dallas Police Department said a records management system issue is to blame for the release of three inmates who were allowed to go free recently. Police are now searching for the three men.

Dallas police and sheriff's deputies are searching for three inmates who were mistakenly released from jail Thursday.

NBC 5 learned of the error from our media partners at The Dallas Morning News.

Jose Morquecho, James Langley and Willie James Brown are career criminals according to Dallas police.

Police said Morquecho was arrested for vehicle burglary, Brown was in custody for a home burglary and Langley was arrested for felony theft. None of the men have a history of violent crimes.

Authorities said the Dallas Police Department has a new electronic records management system, but somehow the three men's cases were not filed correctly and all three were let go by mistake.

Police admit the switch to the new system was bound to have hiccups and now they're increasing efforts to make sure everyone is trained on the system quickly, to avoid future issues.
