2 Killed in Overnight Shooting at Deep Ellum Bar

Two people were killed at the Bitter End Bar in Dallas on Wednesday morning.

Two people are dead after a shooting in Deep Ellum on Wednesday morning, police say.

According to the Dallas Police Department, officers were called to the 2800 block of Elm Street shortly before 1 a.m.

Police said the incident began when a dispute at the Bitter End bar, located at the corner of Malcolm X Boulevard and Elm Street, led to a shooting.

Officers' preliminary investigation determined the male victim was on the patio of the bar when he was approached by an unknown suspect who fired multiple shots, hitting the victim, police said.

According to police, further investigation showed that one of the rounds fired went through the bar window and hit the female victim standing inside.

Police said both victims were injured as a result of the shooting and were taken to Baylor Medical Center in critical condition. Both were pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

They were identified by police Wednesday night as 37-year-old Rickey Gossett and 30-year-old Danielle Jones.

Police said a third person was injured during the shooting when he was hit by a bullet fragment. He was taken to a hospital by private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

According to police, the suspect ran northbound on Elm after the shooting.

Police said the suspect is described as a Black male who is approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build.

He was last seen wearing a black hoodie with a design or lettering on the front, shorts, and a ski mask, police said.
