Two people are hospitalized after being seriously injured in a plane crash in Wise County on Wednesday, officials say.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the aircraft, a 1992 Aero Vodochody L-139 jet, took off from Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport on Wednesday afternoon.
Officials said the jet was headed to nearby Bridgeport Municipal Airport when it crashed in a field along the 1900 block of US Highway 380 shortly after 6:30 p.m.
According to a preliminary crash report from the FAA, the jet ended up in a barn where it sheared off both wings. What caused the jet to come down remains under investigation.

Lake Bridgeport Fire Department, first responders were called to the crash site at 6:45 p.m. It was there they found the pilot and a passenger both seriously injured.
The pilot, identified as 62-year-old Dianna Stanger, of Washington, Texas, sustained critical injuries and was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. The passenger, identified as 58-year-old Thomas Charles from Niceville, Florida, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Medical City Denton.
An update on their conditions was not readily available on Friday.
Stanger owns Darkstar Air Racing, an all-female racing team that competes in air shows nationwide. On their website, Darkstar said the red and black painted L-139 was a customized version of the fighter trainer and was the only one like it in the world.
The Federal Aviation Administration has taken over the investigation into the crash, officials said.
