Oncor crews continued to make progress in getting power restored to thousands of North Texans overnight Monday. As of Tuesday, fewer than 2,400 remain without power.
The majority of the outages remain in Dallas and Tarrant counties, where 856 and 626 customers remain without service, respectively. Another 514 are without service in Parker County and a few hundred in Collin and Hunt counties.
At the height of the winter storm on Friday, more than 270,000 customers were in the dark.
Oncor said people without service since Friday are the highest priority and that they expect to complete winter storm power restoration sometime Tuesday.
"The severe weather and ice has continued to hinder our restoration progress, especially the treacherous driving conditions," Chief Operating Officer Jim Greer said in a news release. "We know that this has been a difficult situation for our customers who have been without power, which is why the customers who have been out the longest have been given the highest priority with today's restoration. We will continue to work around the clock until every customer's power is back on."
Nearly 5,000 Oncor combined employees, contractors and mutual assistance utility partners from eight states have continued to work around the clock quickly and safely.
Oncor said customers can report and monitor outages at stormcenter.oncor.com. Additionally, phone and power outages can be reported to ONCOR by texting the word OUT to 66267 (ONCOR).
Oncor advises residents to have an emergency kit with flashlights and batteries. It may take more than 24 hours for all customers to have service restored, according to Oncor, so some customers may want to seek shelter with family or friends who have electricity service.
