One person was injured and a dog was killed in an early-morning house fire in Plano.
Plano Fire and Rescue was called to a fire on the 3400 block of Mission Ridge just before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters arrived to find the house completely engulfed in flames.
Firefighters called for back-up and began knocking down the fire from the outside while trying to save a man believed to be trapped inside the home.
Rescuers were finally able to get in and found a man in the back of the house. He was rushed outside where CPR was performed before being rushed to an area hospital.
Firefighters also found a large dog that did not survive the fire.
The cause of the fire, which gutted the house and damaged the roof, is still under investigation.
