Social distancing precautions have prompted the city of Dallas to open a temporary overnight shelter.

The shelter at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center will add bed capacity to help offset lost beds at other overnight shelters because of social distancing precautions, the city said.

The shelter will open at 5 p.m. Sunday and remain open from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. through March 21.
